LIFE4BEST 2020-M-37 Madeira Butterflies

Madeira Island is rich on endemic butterflies, with about 30% of all butteflies being unique to these Islands. Sadly, most of them were under an unfavourable conservation status, of which, the Madeira Large Whte Pieris wollastoni which was critically endangered of extinction. Therefore collecting baseline ecological data was critical to their conservation. Thus Madeira Fauna & Flora has teamed up with Butterfly Conservation Europe, the largest and most important Butterfly Conservation NGO in Europe to address these issues and insert Madeira Fauna & Flora Butterfly Monitoring scheme within the European Butterfly Monitoring Schemes eBMS.
